Tai Chi
Jersey City, NJ (date) -- Good News for people with Arthritis! Strulowitz & Gargiulo, Hudson County's premier Physical Therapy Center, in association with the Arthritis Foundation, New Jersey Chapter, is offering Tai Chi for people with arthritis.
Tai Chi is a Chinese Martial Art now known as one of the most effective exercises for physical and mental well-being. The eight-week program, designed by The Arthritis Foundation specifically for people with arthritis, will focus on introducing individuals to this gentle, safe, enjoyable exercise that effectively contributes to a reduction in arthritis symptoms along with improvement of posture and balance.
According to Carl Gargiulo, Senior Physical Therapist and owner/operator of Strulowitz and Gargiulo Physical Therapy, Tai Chi can benefit all people with arthritis and other joint inflammatory diseases. "Many of us are under the impression that arthritis is a disease that attacks only older men and women, (Senior Citizens as they are called). This is a mistake! Arthritis can afflict anyone at any age. It's also found among children and physically conditioned athletes."
Gargiulo encourages those with arthritis to improve the quality of their lives and increase general health and fitness levels by joining this exercise program. No prior knowledge of Tai Chi is required to participate in the program.
Qualified instructors, trained and certified by the New Jersey Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation conduct the program, which runs for eight weeks, on Wednesdays from 11:00am to 12 noon, starting September 14th and ending November 2nd. A nominal fee of $15.00 is charged for the entire eight weeks. The course will be taught by Deanna T. Addeo, a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant, who has been trained and certified by the Arthritis Foundation to teach the course. Tuition and transportation assistance is available upon request.
Sessions will be held at the Strulowitz and Gargiulo Physical Therapy Center on the 2nd Floor (no elevator available), which is located at 1 Nardone Place, at the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard and upper Route 139 in Jersey City (5 blocks north of Journal Square).
